About ariesbags

ariesbags is a one person operation based out of Greensboro, NC owned by me, Diana Hausler. I started sewing in 2014 when a YouTube video of a quilter and quilt store owner popped up one day and this overjoyed women was showing how to make her new favorite quilt block. She was so excited about quilt blocks and how they came together to make quilts. I had never sewn before. From that day on and through hundreds of videos, I learned how to make quilt blocks, quilts, pillows, place mats, rugs, art quilts and finally bags. When those bag videos popped up I was hooked. Its incredibly difficult to construct bags because I have to think inside out and the brain does not want to naturally do this. Along the way I also learned about sewing machines, thread, tension settings, interfacings and everything else that comes along with creating handmade goods. Everything I make is made by me in my home studio. I never buy and resell anything because then its not handmade. My fabrics are sourced from thrift shops, quilt stores and friends that give me their denim. I source my quilt cotton from local quilt shops and the bag hardware is sourced from a reputable family owned business in the US. Nothing is sourced from outside the US and I support locally made shops.

I carry two lines of bags:  sustainable and non-sustainable. the sustainable line is made from repurposed denim, corduroy, quilt cotton, cotton batting (or polyester batting) and notions like repurposed buttons, trims and the decorative stiches on my sewing machine. I literally tear up jeans with a seam ripper and sew bags from the remnants trying to use every detail (pockets, pocket loops, zippers, etc). I do what I can to keep denim out of the landfill. The non-sustainable line consists of new vinyl and waterproof canvas or water resistant canvas, foam, interfacings and materials that are not ecologically sustainable. Most of my products are in the sustainable category because I care about the environment.

The product descriptions indicate what the bags are made from. If you have any questions about the materials or how bags are made, please reach out to me and I will be happy to answer any questions about my products.

ariesbags has been featured in local art galleries, boutiques, pop-up markets and farmers markets in the Greensboro area over the last couple of years and I am excited to be vending at new markets in 2026 and beyond.

Thank you for shopping here and for supporting locally handmade businesses like mine!
